Seven Bay Area sports teams have set their competitive differences aside in order to raise money for those affected by October’s deadly Northern California wildfires. The Golden State Warriors, San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants, Oakland Raiders, Oakland Athletics, San Jose Sharks and San Jose Earthquakes are teaming up to raise much-needed funds for fire relief. Using the hashtag #BayAreaUnite, the teams have created a portal via YouCaring.com and have already helped raise more than $550,000 for North Bay fire relief.
“The fires have burned an estimated 200,000 acres and 6,000 homes in Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino and Lake Counties, displacing thousands of residents,” the website states. “Damage estimates are in the billions of dollars and rising, and the cleanup and recovery efforts will be the largest and costliest in California history. THANK YOU for coming together for your friends, neighbors, and fellow Bay Area fans.”
